Concern. After typing "www.iammostboring.com" into my search field, I was redirected to my own gmail inbox. I guess it's true.

I'm itching for a luxurious, relaxing vacation. My mission lately has been trying to convince S that he really would enjoy taking a cruise. He claims that cruises are for lazy, bourgeois people who have no taste in food or entertainment and who are too afraid to explore parts of the world that haven't been appropriately gentrified into white tourist traps. My only argument thus far has been 24 hour pizza bar! How can you complain!? I can understand his side, truly I can. Honestly, I know that a cruise ship is no way to gain any kind of cultural experience of the Western Carribean, but right now I'm far more interested in afternoon cocktails with a crappy novel on a sundeck. Besides, there aren't many other opportunities to sneak off on a five day tropical get-away for less than $1,000. Even if we just drive to Florida and book a room for four nights and dine on $75 a day (even less than Rachel Ray does!), we'd be spending the same amount of money. Plus we'd be wasting 4 hours worth of gas and vacation time traveling both ways, whereas, with the cruise, we can catch the street car in front of the house and ride it down to the boarding docks for only $1.50 per person!

Somehow I will make this work.

It's hard to be motivated. I went to the grocery store this morning and spent $35 on produce: squash, zuchini, eggplant, onions, garlic, new potatoes, cabbage, carrots, spinach, cucumber, tomato, lemons, honeysomething apples, bananas, satsumas <3, ginger, cauliflower...yeah, that's about all. $35, man. Oh, and a bell pepper.

It's a gorgeous day outside--I sat on the porch and talked to my mother on the telephone, then shut myself inside with the doors and windows open trying to make new meals out of leftovers. I got a pasta salad and some rice pudding out of it, both of which are pretty intense flavor-wise.

Gigantic pet peeve: People who eat out of the community container and liiiiiick their utensils before going back in for more. I know I french kiss my husband and all, but I almost threw up in my mouth when I saw him drooling into the pasta salad bowl. It's just really gross. You remember the episode of Reading Rainbow where they swabbed Lavar Burton's cheek and made a little culture colony in a petry dish? That's all I can think about. Gag gag gag.

Until I get the hang of writing again, I'll try to supplement junk with pictures. I'm not a photographer or anything, I just know that I'm nosy and think you might be, too.

This afternoon I must clean at least one more part of the house. Finish my resume. Write my damned thank you notes. I don't know why showing people that I'm grateful for their pyrex is so blasted hard.

Pasta salad on the left, some fruit on the right. Deelish.

Leftovers still seem unappealing whether put into salads or trashcans.
Left: pasta, tomatos, facon, mayonaise and ranch dressing mix, black olives, shredded cheese
Right: potatoe soup, red beans and rice, okra and tomatos, tin can, dish soap bottle, vanilla scented garbage can liner

Will I ever clean the bedroom?
Will I ever have some place to hang the painting Amy made for our wedding?
Shawn claims that there are nothing but vulvas and vaginas in the painting. I say that's what I like about it.

Halp??

Dear lovely Livejournal ladies,

If you are married or have been married before, would you do me the honor of telling me about your wedding planning experiences? Mostly information about how you used the internet or technology that wasn't available to earlier brides to help you plan. I would really appreciate it.

You can send me a few sentences about your overall experience, or if you prefer, please answer some of the questions below in as much detail as you'd like:

1. What year did you get married in? How old were you? (you don't have to answer that!)

2. How long was your engagement? How long did you give yourself to plan your wedding?

3. Who helped you plan your wedding? Family? Friends? A professional wedding planner?

4. Were you in school, working, or caring for a family while you were planning your wedding?

5. How involved was your future husband in the planning process?

6. How did you choose the church, reception venue, caterer, music, etc.? Recommendations? Bridal magazines? Other?

7. If you were to plan your wedding in 2008, would you use technology to make the process simpler? If yes, what kinds?

8. How do you feel about using the internet to plan important events like weddings and other large parties? Is it reliable? Convenient?

9. What was the most stressful aspect of your wedding planning experiences?

10. What do you think of some of the new internet wedding crazes like:
(a.) Save the Date cards, (b.) Honeymoon registries, (c.) e-mailed Thank You notes, (d.) RSVPing on a couple's wedding website, (e.) anything else that you've noticed change in recent years?

A lot of my older lady family members have answered these, and it's been so illuminating! I was tickled by some of their answers. Apparently, my aunts will disown me if I email Thank You notes or have a Honeymoon registry. I'm really looking forward to hearing what my younger friends have to say about these things.

Cheers, cheers to the last semester of all-nighters which culminate in two pages of paraphrased Victorian literature and copious amounts of internet "research" interspersed with potty breaks. I pray that once I am out of school, I will discover my desire to write again. I hate writing. Loathe it. Despise it. I never believed such a thing could happen. I never believed that I would miss studying math! These next three months seem to stretch before me, an endless abyss of deadlines and half-read assignments. I'm going to make a paper chain, a scholastic advent calendar, some perspective. Because I realize that while the end seems so terribly far away, due-dates are walking behind me, stepping on my shadow, tripping on the backs of my heels.

Please go see There Will Be Blood. It was amazing. Maybe one of the best films ever. A three hour movie that didn't contain a single lull. And I drank two giant sodas. I promise that you would risk a bladder infection for this film.

Frustration No. 174

Attempting to hang lights and garland on the front of the house with SO. Of course, I mis-measured a few things, but I told him last night that we would need larger nails and tacks. No one is right, and everyone is mean. All I want is a little bit of pretty, Christmasy home decor! Does it have to be this difficult? Geez!

And no, I don't really want to wrap lights around all of the posts and banisters and windows, even thought I am the one who oooh's and aaaah's over houses covered in lights. So quit trying to do it to my house, darn it!

Oh, I was going to make some dumb post about how I'm tired, and exhausted, and physically hurting, and mentally hurting, and how life is just so hard. But really, I whine more than any woman really has a right to. I've got papusas and plantains in my belly, a nice boy who swears he'll rub my legs for me tonight, and a teacher who is graciously giving me until tomorrow to complete my research paper. I almost don't even care that the A/C is broken and that the temperature has been in the mid-80's in freakin' December. Because the low tonight is going to be 69 degrees and there's a nice breeze through the screen door.

Jill--I just got your Christmas card. Thank you! You brightened my day. :)

I'd forgotten that Livejournal had simplified process for updating usperics. Hurrah! While I know better than to use my cell phone's sad little camera for "serious" picture taking, I ain't go nothing else in my possession. So journal, prepare yourself. You're fixin' to be upgraded with fuzzy photos from the present.

I also just realized recently that I can fix accidental disappearances of entire journal entries due to fumbly fingers near the touch mouse and the backspace button by using the Edit>>Undo tab on my Internet window. Halle-lj-lujah.

It's not Road Home, but it's a pretty fantastic surprise.

Last Christmas, my mother lost her wedding ring. She was heart-broken, and suspicious of everyone, but managed to console herself with a new two karat wonder. Today, nearly a year later, my father found the ring. Inside of a chair that he, she, I and everyone in the family had turned upside down searching through. He was on the hunt for his misplaced Zippo lighter when he found it in the "crap trap" beneath the cushions and the lining. When he placed it on her finger beside her new ring, he realized he'd been made into a sucker. She had probably hid the blasted thing herself. ;)

Another happy note: My mother gave me a semi-official budget for my own wedding, which will help me to begin planning for serious now.

Remember that episode of Full House when Stephanie is afraid of the earthquakes?

The garbage men come on Monday mornings at 5a.m. They stop their truck in front of my house and unload my can and all of the neighbors' cans. It takes them a good ten minutes to complete this task, which is sufficient enough time to wake me up, force me to the bathroom, and keep me from falling back to sleep for several minutes. Which is the worst when your alarm clock is set for thirty minutes later.

Ah well. Watchu think about cinnamon rolls? I've been baking them in the morning lately. Not the most healthy, sure, but they make the house smell nice and they're warm and delicious.
